Alberta healthcare worker angered over free rapid testing for unboosted workers

“To sum up, if you are a healthcare worker for AHS who chooses not to get your third shot (booster), they will accommodate you with free rapid tests in certain situations, and supply them,” said the nurse.

Under certain conditions, Alberta Health Services (AHS) will require fully-vaccinated staff who choose not to get a COVID-19 booster to take a rapid test, but those tests will be free of charge while unvaccinated staff continue to procure and pay for tests.

An internal AHS document was shared with the Western Standard by an Alberta nurse who has asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal from her employer.

The document is a summary of testing requirements for healthcare workers and states workers not fully immunized are required to provide a Health Canada approved rapid antigen test with a negative result “no more than 48 hours before the start of the shift.”

An AHS spokesperson confirmed to the Western Standard that for unvaccinated workers, “publicly-funded COVID-19 tests and at-home testing/self-administered tests will not be accepted.”

Under the section where a healthcare worker has had close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, the document states those who are fully vaccinated but have not received a booster shot, will be required to test daily for 10 days post-exposure.

However, the rapid test will be supplied to the worker at no charge by AHS.

“In continuing care settings, CMOH orders continue to require fully immunized workers regardless of booster dose status to rapid test for 10 days following a close contact in order to remain in the workplace,” said AHS adding, “a booster dose is not a condition of employment at this time.”

Internal AHS document: Summary of Healthcare Worker Testing Requirements

“To sum up, if you are a healthcare worker for AHS who chooses not to get your third shot (booster), they will accommodate you with free rapid tests in certain situations, and supply them,” said the nurse.

“But, if you’re unvaccinated, you must supply your own rapid tests every 48 hours at your own cost at approved pharmacies.”

Workers who have received their third dose or booster are permitted to remain at work and do not require rapid testing as long as the worker is asymptomatic, said the document.

“How long until the third vaccination is mandated on AHS healthcare workers?” said the nurse.

The unidentified healthcare worker said she is concerned AHS will eventually amend their policy to include the third dose and change the definition of “fully vaccinated” in an effort to “coerce” other healthcare workers to get vaccinated against their wishes.

The nurse also explained the difficulty some healthcare workers are facing trying to find rapid antigen tests which can lead to missed shifts.

“How is that helping our hospitals that are short-staffed already or our ridiculously short-staffed EMS staff?” asked the nurse.

“Look at the HSAA EMS Facebook page. Calls to 9-1-1 are repeatedly going unanswered “in Calgary specifically, with rolling alerts all over Alberta.”

“Why aren’t they (AHS) doing everything possible to ensure they have healthcare workers in hospitals?” said the nurse adding she believes AHS is, “simply trying to punish unvaccinated healthcare workers at the expense of patient care.”

AHS confirmed it will fund tests for staff in compliance with its immunization policy.

“It is not about accommodating those who do not yet have a booster,” said the spokesman.

“Daily rapid testing for fully immunized workers who are a close contact is to ensure we maintain staffing for critical services and to protect the safety of other workers, patients and families.”

Long past time they tested for Natural Immunity . . . I would bet the Farm that almost ALL of the staff who are unvaxed and have been working in the Hospitals for 2 years have plenty of Natural Immunity . . . which by the way is 20 Xs better than the VAX . . . and that was when we thought that the VAX actually worked.

This is far more disturbing . . .

“An Indianapolis-based insurance company, OneAmerica, said the death rate is up a stunning 40% from pre-pandemic levels among working-age people 18 – 64. Their CEO has said, “Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be a 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.” Who knows more about an increase in the death rate than a life insurance company?

A 3-year-old girl dies ‘unexpectedly’ of a heart attack a day after receiving a COVID shot. We are seeing deaths of 15 and 16 year old boys and girls.”

Eminent physicians and scientists have warned that the COVID vaccines can exacerbate any condition the person may have, aware of or not… cancer, heart conditions, neurological, vascular, etc. Also, anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction may occur. Independent studies have shown that deaths related to the vaccine have been vastly under-reported and in many cases an outright lie perpetrated by the FDA and the CDC. To anyone paying attention, this should not be of any surprise. These doctors have warned us for well over a year.

Rapid Tests are just over 60% “accurate” so why bother at all?

Isn’t a nurse’s job to be in CLOSE REGULAR CONTACT WITH SICK PEOPLE so that SHE MIGHT CARE FOR THEM? HELLO?!! All I can say is WTF?!! AHS is punishing nurses for DOING THEIR JOB!

I really like Melanie Risdon’s reporting but the word “immunized” is wrong. These jabs give no immunity.

By the manufacturer’s own documentation and admission they do not prevent transmission as well. They may prevent a more severe case against the original alpha strain. However, that strain has been replaced by variants and the jabbed people now make up the bulk of covid cases.

As it does not prevent covid and does not prevent transmitting covid why the insanity? Why discriminate against people who performed risk/benefit analysis and made an informed decision not to get the injection?

Keep in mind the narrative is collapsing and mandates and vaccine passports are being rolled back and blocked in the United States and the UK. When it ends here, AHS leaders should face criminal charges.

So they really cannot blame the cancellation of operations on unvaccinated… now that the majority of beds are full of the vaccinated. So..now lets blame it on unvaccinated staff who got fired on staff shortage that results in cancellation of operations….
They must pay lots of PR strategists to come up with this stuff.

“How long until the third vaccination is mandated on AHS healthcare workers?” said the nurse.
Third? What about the forth, fifth, six . . . etc?
If this nurse didn’t see this coming I am not sure what to say – but I don’t have any sympathy for it is because of people like this nurse that we are even facing this for they most likely had a problem with the initial two injects because they clearly have a problem with more injections. Had the many people like this nurse stood their ground we would likely not be here today.
Sorry nurse – this is like the hotel California: “you can check out any time you want but you can never leave.”

Misery index places Canada in bottom ranks

“Canadians are rightly concerned about the country’s high inflation and unemployment rates, and when compared to other developed countries, Canada is not doing well.”

Canada’s combination of high rates of inflation and unemployment have secured it the sixth most “miserable” advanced economy in the world.

Tuesday morning, the Fraser Institute released a study that ranked the International Monetary Fund’s top 35 economic countries.

With an inflation rate of 3.15% and unemployment rate of 7.72%, Canada’s 2021 Misery Index score is 10.88.

“Canadians are rightly concerned about the country’s high inflation and unemployment rates, and when compared to other developed countries, Canada is not doing well,” said Jason Clements, executive vice president of the Fraser Institute.

Fraser Institute

American economist Arthur Okun created the Misery Index to understand the level of economic strain felt on an everyday basis for regular citizens of a country.

Inflation and unemployment act as measures that drastically affect the costs of living that impacts economic well-being on an individual level.

Only five countries received worse scores than Canada, Spain in the last spot with a score of 17.61, followed by Greece (15.73), Italy (11.96) and Iceland (11.26)

Countries above Canada’s score include France (10.10), the United States (9.72), Australia (7.33), and the United Kingdom (7.17).

Japan (2.61) and Switzerland (3.57) received the top scores being the least miserable.

The Misery Index was prominent in policy discussions during the 1970s and 1980s, but fell out of the spotlight during the 1990s while inflation and unemployment was low.

“The fact we are again discussing the Misery Index and Canada’s high ranking on it is bad news for all Canadians, who will suffer as a result,” Clemens said.

“Governments across Canada, particularly the federal government, should prioritize those policies that will make Canadians less miserable by lowering inflation and unemployment.”

LETTER: Does Copping have scientific evidence to continue with vaccine passports?

“Surely our government would not discriminate against any Albertans without a sound scientific basis for doing so.”

RE: Vaccine passports now mandatory in Alberta

My wife and I took it upon ourselves to get tested for immunity to the COVID-19 virus at our own cost. Several other couples in our community have done the same thing. The test is carried out by the Mayo Clinic so I think we can all agree it is done by a very credible organization.

Both my wife and I tested >250 which is the highest level of immunity that they register. It is also the same level of immunity they show on the most vaccinated people.

With this in mind, I ask the Minister of Health and the entire UCP government, what is the scientific basis for your continuing to impose the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) to discriminate against us and restrict us from being able to participate in society?

Surely our government would not discriminate against any Albertans without a sound scientific basis for doing so.

‘Galileo’ stockbroker loses COVID case

Grammond explained judicial notice of obvious facts is intended to ensuring plaintiffs with pointless claims do not “bog down the judicial process” with unnecessary arguments.

A Montreal stockbroker who likened himself to Galileo and said COVID-19 wasn’t real had his case tossed out of Federal Court, says Blacklock’s Reporter.

“Courts make decisions based on evidence brought in each particular case,” wrote Justice Sébastien Grammond.

“Some facts however are so obvious courts assume their existence and no evidence of them is required. This is called judicial notice.”

Lucien Khodeir filed a federal challenge of Treasury Board vaccination orders for employees.

Khodeir was not personally affected by the orders issued last October 6. The court was told he works as a stock trader for CIBC World Markets.

Khodeir in his submission said vaccine mandates were unnecessary since the coronavirus did not exist, and proposed to call three expert witnesses.

“It is pure speculation,” said the court.

“In his submissions, Mr. Khodeir compares himself to Galileo who was persecuted in the 17th century for asserting that the Earth revolves around the Sun, a theory unanimously accepted today. Yet unlike Mr. Khodeir, Galileo buttressed the heliocentric theory with facts, especially his discovery of Jupiter’s moons.

“In contrast, Mr. Khodeir asks us to believe his assertions regarding the coronavirus without providing any tangible fact in support. The comparison is unfair to the great Italian scholar. Mr. Khodeir’s case has no scientific footing.”

Grammond explained judicial notice of obvious facts is intended to ensuring plaintiffs with pointless claims do not “bog down the judicial process” with unnecessary arguments.

“Over the last two years most people on this planet have been affected in various ways by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the court.

“It has become common knowledge COVID-19 is caused by a virus.

“Numerous trusted sources of information have repeated this fact to the point that it is now beyond reasonable dispute. There is a lack of debate on this issue in scientific circles.”

The Federal Court noted dismissal of the claim was unrelated to numerous cases awaiting trial in which vaccine orders are being challenged as unnecessary, intrusive and unconstitutional. None of the plaintiffs challenging vaccine orders have disputed the existence of the coronavirus.
