POLL: Huge majority of Canadians support vaccine passports

The Ipsos poll found 72% of Canadians supported the idea a vaccine passport should be used to allow people to access air travel.

A large majority of Canadians would like to see vaccination passports brought in for a variety of circumstances, a new poll shows.

The Ipsos poll, done for Global News, found 72% of Canadians supported the idea a vaccine passport should be used to allow people to access air travel. The level was higher – 74% – to have a passport to be allowed to a seniors’ facility.

The poll found 67% of Canadians favoured passports for indoor concerts, theatres, museums, post-secondary education attendance.

Six in 10 people said they also wanted the passports used to allow attendance at outdoor events, like concerts.

But it all may be a moot point; last week, Canada’s privacy commissioners said any vaccine passport would be illegal and a breach of the Privacy Act.

“There must be clear legal authority for introducing use of vaccine passports for each intended purpose,” Daniel Therrien said in a statement.

“It is an encroachment on civil liberties.”

Mandating vaccine passports for Canadians who choose to travel or attend public facilities would require “a newly enacted public health order or law,” he said.

“A vaccine passport can take a number of different forms, such as a digital certificate presented on a smartphone app or a paper certificate, but it essentially functions to provide an individual with a verified means of proving they are vaccinated in order to travel or gain access to services or locations,” wrote Therrien.

“A vaccine passport presumes individuals will be required or requested to disclose personal health information, their vaccine status, in exchange for goods, services or access to certain premises.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last January 14 called vaccine passports an “extreme measure” and said cabinet would never enact any scheme that compelled Canadians to get vaccinated.

“I think the indications the vast majority of Canadians are looking to get vaccinated will get us to a good place without having to take more extreme measures that could have real divisive impacts on community and country,” said Trudeau.

“I think it’s an interesting idea, but I think it is also fraught with challenges. We are certainly encouraging and motivating people to get vaccinated as quickly as possible. We always know there are people who won’t get vaccinated, and not necessarily through a personal or political choice.

“There are medical reasons. There are a broad range of reasons why someone might not get vaccinated. I’m worried about creating undesirable effects in our community.”

Cabinet introduced regulations January 7 under the Aeronautics Act requiring any citizen returning from abroad to prove they are COVID-19-free before boarding an aircraft. The mandatory COVID-19 test on February 22 was extended to drivers arriving at land borders.

Federal research shows about 12% of Canadians would refuse a vaccine even if it was locally available. Twenty-six percent said they did not trust the Public Health Agency, according to Statistics Canada.

Ok. I will agree to Vax passports but only if it consists of a small colored tatoo clearly visible on the right side of each vaxxed persons neck. That way forgery can be reduced and in the event we eventually find that vaxxed people are asymptomatic carriers we can easily separate them to protect the rest of the population from being unknowingly infected

Canada just surpassed the US in population with at least one dose. It’s not because we’re doing a good job it’s because half of Americans either don’t want it, or are hesitant.

Canada is dosing kids now to try and pump em out, And make up the #’s.. There’s no way 72% of people are in favour of requiring proof of a “vaccine” to travel given they’re already running out of people to actually take it.

Liberals own the news, and they know what’s best for people. The ends justify the means for them, and we need them to save us from ourselves.

If I were 70’s or 80’s I’d take it. But I’m relatively young and healthy, so I’d rather have covid over the experimental gene therapy. When big tech and authoritarian governments are coercing on people to take it, all while concealing and censoring serious concerns, that should be a massive red flag for anyone.

And a HUGE MAJORITY of these polls are complete and utter opinion-swaying propaganda with controlled outcomes. Canadians are dumb as hell, but they’re not that dumb. The Twitter post for this has a poll below it with the results completely opposite of the data shown. And that’s in a lefty sanctuary. Believe your lying eyes.

    We have now officially become a 3rd World country . . . oh Kanada . . .

A Vaccinated Person should care little what the others are doing, they are according to the “Science” immune today.
Millions of Canadians have Natural Immunity, having had the Wuhan Flu at some point in the last 18 months.

72% of Canadians are so friggin stooopid that they want to mandate an Experimental Vaccine that has never had years of testing? Obviously they are . . .

Yeah right, 72%. Ceausescu was also loved by 110% of the population and look what has happened to him. This is just communist propaganda – you Canadians only see now how numbers can rise or fall as a little wannabe dictator wishes.

Oh good grief. Vaccine passports will never happen. The Privacy Commissioner of Canada already put out a joint statement by federal, provincial and territorial privacy commissioners on May 19th, 2021 that outlines the numerous issues surrounding vaccine passports. Biden has already washed his hands as quoted in a CNBC article saying “The administration has said it will leave the task of developing digital health credentials up to the private sector.” The WHO has also said they don’t support vaccine passports due to the wide disparity in vaccine distribution around the world and the legal ramifications and inequality to those who simply can’t vaccinate are a whole other can of worms. In my opinion, talks of vaccine passports is simply a scare tactic by governments to get more people under a needle. I have spoken to so many people who have jumped the gun on getting a vaccine they weren’t sure they wanted because they are assuming they will need one to travel. Mission accomplished Trudeau.

Such utter B.S. They poll a small group in comparison to a population of 37 million Canadians and make a broad statement that “the majority of Canadians want a vaccine passport.” Such utter rubbish. Only thing more insane is how many people believe it. You know what is so funny about common sense? How uncommon it is these days.

Two most DISTRUSTING things about this poll?? Ispos and Global! Barbara hit the nail on the head with her comments. I have done enough polls to recognize the results they are going for by the framing of their questions. Global is now the new CBC!

IPSOS BELONGS TO TRUDEAU as do the other major pollsters, Also how did they frame the question? Did they use ridings that were devoted to the socialist party? So many factors.
So why are you writing this. Ask someone who hasn’t been bought and paid for.
Stop going to the mainstream for info.

    Global News Polls lie.
When they posed that question on Twitter
    64.8% said “NO”
    33.1% said “YES”
    2.1% said “I Don’t Know”
    There were 11,643 votes total.

These covid related surveys and opinion polls are more and more sounding like the ones done back in the day in communist eastern Europe. Don’t believe a statistic or survey that you haven’t personally forged.

Even after the covid tracker app was harvesting data and tracking people … they still want this. It will come , so we boycott the facilities and businesses and dont fly…. who knows who spends more on travel. It appears the same people who want this are also wearing masks in cars by themselves and are diseased with fear , would they fly and travel and go out even with a passport?

What is wrong with people! It is seriously disturbing that the majority of people want vaccine passports AND they don’t see the very troubling problems with them.

Global News – an organization whose primary source of revenue comes from Big Pharma – says that the majority of people want to be controlled by the very organizations who seek to profit the most – Big Pharma? Really? The fascist propaganda machine is – as usual – in full swing, coercing and manipulating people into accepting the unacceptable. How many people are doing whatever they think it will take to get their freedom back when the reality is that the people who have been controlling every aspect of our lives for months now have absolutely NO intention of giving any freedom back? It’s fascinating how well their psy-op worked. Just proves that we don’t learn from history because we aren’t willing to.

Vaccine passports now mandatory in Alberta

In place of a vaccine passport, a negative test result from a privately-paid rapid test within 72 hours of service will be adequate or a person will need to show a valid medical exemption.

The Alberta government’s new vaccine mandates for businesses, entities and events are in effect.

Each organization must follow one of two options: implement the Restriction Exemption Program (REP) requiring proof of vaccination or negative test result, plus mandatory masking, to continue operating as usual, or comply with all public health restrictions as outlined in Order 42-2021.

In place of a vaccine passport, a negative test result from a privately-paid rapid test within 72 hours of service will be adequate or a person will need to show a valid medical exemption.

The REP allows operators to avoid the majority of public health restrictions with the implementation of a proof of vaccination program, although vaccine requirements for staff are at the employer’s discretion. Face mask mandates are still required in all indoor spaces.

The program doesn’t apply to those under 12 years of age and businesses that need to be accessed by the public for daily living purposes, including all retail locations. As well, employees, contractors, repair or delivery workers, volunteers or inspectors will be permitted access to spaces without requiring a vaccine passport.

To enter spaces participating in the REP, adults need to provide valid photo identification that matches their paper or digital vaccine record showing name, vaccine type and date of administration. From now until October 25, proof of partial vaccination (one dose) will suffice, however after that date, proof of full vaccination (two doses) will be required. Those under 12 will only need to show vaccination paperwork.

Indoor entertainment, event and recreation facilities that don’t implement the REP will be limited to one-third capacity of their fire code occupancy and attendees must be in household cohorts or with up to two close contacts if they live alone.

Outdoor events and facilities have no capacity restrictions, but attendees must maintain a two-metre distancing between households.

Restaurants that don’t follow the REP cannot offer indoor dining, and outdoor dining will be limited to six people per table from one household, and liquor sales will have to end by 10 p.m. with consumption cut off by 11 p.m.

Retail, shopping malls and food courts aren’t eligible for the REP, therefore will be reduced to one-third capacity of fire code occupancy and are required to stop all in-person dining, switching to take out only.

Indoor private social gatherings will be permitted for those that are vaccinated to a maximum of two households up to 10 (vaccine eligible) vaccinated people. There are no restrictions for children under 12. For those who are unvaccinated, indoor social gatherings are not permitted.

Private outdoor social gatherings are limited to a maximum of 200 people who are socially distanced.

Churches will be limited to one-third of fire code capacity and masks and social distancing are still mandatory in places of worship.

Employees are mandated to work from home unless their physical presence is required for their duties.

Proof of vaccination will not be required to enter a polling place for Monday’s federal election although physical distancing, masking and other transmission reducing measures will be in place.

Hockey arena backs down on banning unvaccinated kids

Within hours of the Western Standard posting the exclusive story, Oaten was contacted by the SLSFSC and advised of an update to their policy.

Public pressure has brought minor hockey out of the penalty box in Cochrane.

Following an exclusive story by the Western Standard on Saturday, along with mounting pressure from the community, a Cochrane sports facility has revamped its vaccine passport policy.

The Cochrane Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) and Hockey Alberta were not mandating a vaccine passport system, but Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC) announced it would be requiring proof of vaccine status for anyone 12 and up.

Within hours of the story being posted, CMHS President Cory Oaten was contacted by the SLSFSC and advised of an update to their policy with this statement: “Youth between the ages of 12 (vaccine eligible) to 18 years of age are exempt from the REP vaccination requirement to enter the facility for the purpose of participating in a youth organized sport organization. Examples include (but not limited to) Cochrane Minor Hockey, Ringette, Cochrane Minor Soccer, Lacrosse, Cochrane Figure Skating Club, Comets, Junior Lifeguard Club, etc.”

Although youth may access the facility without being vaccinated, all adult spectators, coaches, volunteers and organizers of any youth activity “must show proof of vaccination, proof of a negative test, or medical exemption to gain entry to SLSFSC premises.”

“Although this helps our kids get on the ice in Cochrane, it’s still an issue at lots of other facilities, especially in larger facilities in Calgary and Airdrie,” Oaten said.

Oaten, who works in the insurance industry, points out the “huge liability issue” this poses to his and other sports organizations.

“Originally, Spray Lakes pushed us to collect this medical documentation from our members,” he said.

The CMHA board consists of 18 volunteer members.

“They can’t put those expectations on a board of volunteers. It’s a big legal issue for us,” Oaten said, adding he and his board refuse to take responsibility for requiring proof of vaccine or the collection of their members’ private medical information.

Oaten was informed the SLSFSC will now have its own security checkpoints set up in the facility and will take responsibility for checking the vaccine status of anyone 18-plus entering the building.

Oaten anticipates families will still pull their kids from hockey and other sports programs as those who remain unvaccinated will not be permitted in the facility to accompany their child.

Hockey Alberta stated on their Facebook page they are working with the Alberta government on how last Wednesday’s announcement will affect hockey for Alberta players. Oaten has asked his members to hold off on making a decision to pull their child from the program until Hockey Alberta comes forward with their updated season plan.

The Western Standard reached out to the SLSFSC for comment but did not hear back in time for publication.
