Cory Morgan interviews Edmonton Ward 11 counselor Mike Nickel on his run for Mayor in the 2021 municipal elections.

Nickel is an outspoken counselor known for some clashes with the establishment and administration of the city of Edmonton at times. He has had to defend himself from efforts to gag his social media presence by fellow counselors and is not prone to backing down.

Nickel speaks on how things stand today in Edmonton city hall and where he would like to take it to tomorrow should he be elected as the next mayor this October.

WATCH: Australian police fire rubber bullets at crowd of anti-lockdown protestors

Up to 400 protesters surrounded the shrine and refused police orders to disperse.

An anti-government demonstration in Melbourne turned ugly on Wednesday with police opening fire with rubber bullets on hundreds of protesters.

It was at the end of a day-long march through the streets of the city, ending up at the Shrine of Remembrance, a war memorial built to honour Australians killed in the First World War.

Up to 400 protesters surrounded the shrine and refused police orders to disperse.

Dozens of riot police eventually moved in, opening fire with numerous rubber bullets.

About 200 people were arrested.

Three police officers were injured, including two who suffered head injuries.

Melbourne has been wracked by two days of protests by people voicing their distrust in the COVID vaccines and anger at the government.

Australia has had some of the most restrictive COVID-19 lockdown measures in the world.
