QR77’s Smith steps down from talk radio show

Smith, who has been on the air for the last six years, said social media is heading for a reckoning one day over what it’s turned into.

Long-time QR77 talk show host Danielle Smith is hanging up her microphone – forced, in part, by the mob of political correctness that is persuasive to today’s society.

And Smith, who has been on the air for the last six years, said social media is heading for a reckoning one day over what it’s turned into.

Smith told her listeners Monday morning, her last day will be Feb. 19.

“I am gravely troubled by how easily most in our society have chosen to give up on freedom. Free enterprise, freedom of religion and conscience, free assembly, freedom of movement, freedom of the press. Freedom of speech, in particular, is in a dire state. My entire adult life and career has been spent questioning authority and institutions and conventional wisdom. I’ve been all too aware that in many nations of the world it is against the law to speak truth to power. It can be dangerous. Sadly, in the last year I’ve noticed there are times where it has become perilous here too,” Smith said.

“Unfortunately over the last few years far too many topics have become unchallengeable and the mob of political correctness thinks nothing of destroying a person’s career and reputation over some perceived slight, real or imagined. I’ve found that as a result there are many topics I simply choose not to cover anymore.

“You rely on me to seek the truth and to give you my honest opinion. In this hyper-sensitive social media environment I don’t believe I can do that anymore. So it’s time for me to go. I do believe there is going to be a great reckoning in the next several years as we come to terms with what we’ve allowed social media to do to our relationships, our society, and our public discourse.”

Before she went into talk radio, Smith was the leader of the Wildrose from 2009 to 2014, when she crossed the floor to join the Tories, who were then thrown out by the NDP in the next provincial election.

In 2015, Smith ran for, and lost, the Wildrose nomination in the riding of Highwood.

Concerning how people want to silence others who don’t agree with others opinions. Only their opinions count & know one else is allowed to question it. They get mobbed, get abused, get complaints & on. Just sickening how a democratic country can go down the shit hole so fast.

So, I got news for you liberals/socialists/communists. Many people, I included, paid a price & gave up our youth to keep Canada free so that freedom of the press, thought, expression, and more could be debated without fear of retaliation.

Thanks Danielle for all your insight, the informative interviews and opinions over the last enjoyable years. I doubt I’ll be listening to QR770 anymore as it seems the station is heading down the same road as a lot of media is now-a-days. These are very bad times we are living in, the younger generations will learn the hard way as to what is reality, when a government no longer represents the majority of the people.
Socialisms, communism and fascism all started this way and ended poorly for people with different opinions, eventually swallowing all peoples. Look to China to see what North America will be in 20 years, thankfully I’ll be dead by then. The inevitable is coming, the comfortable life we, our parents and grandparents created here will come to an abrupt end, I hope their ready to reap what they have sown.

Please ask Dave Naylor if The Western Standard will support her claim that there is a cure for COVID and go on the record to say that hydroxycholoroquine is the remedy that doctors should be using. If this publication and its’ readers are so sure that what she said is correct why not unequivocally say so?

They won’t. You know why? Because she lied.

it’s more complex than you’re insinuating. there are high grade studies, over a hundred that show increased survival rates if taken early.

NY Drs last April were using HCQ as a preventative. One 200 mg capsule per week . . . A Dr. in the Midwest, Emanual was here name treated ALL her Wuhan Flu Patients and never lost ONE.
People with Lupus have used HCQ for decades . . . none got the CCP Flu and none had died from the drug . . . as the Fake Stream Media claimed.
Countries near the equator with amazingly low Wuhan Flu infections . . . can buy HCQ like aspirin . . . and take it regularly to prevent Malaria.
What was the issue then ? ? ?
HCQ costs pennies per dose . . . Fauci and his Drug Company preferred Remdisivir . . . which costs $1000s per patient.

        You . . . obviously got fooled by the Insane Left again . . . do a little Research man . . . it won’t hurt you . . .

It’s not me you need to convince – it’s the entire medical establishment. I guess it’s them that need to do a “little” research.

Again, it these studies are so rock-solid, why doesn’t this magazine trumpet them as such? Why aren’t more staunch right-wing media outlets (nevermind the liberal boogeymen) singing the praises of these studies at all times? What is keeping the Western Standard from splashing this news on the front pages? Where are you Jason Kenney?

“entire medical establishment” . . . that is a nonsense statement that you can’t back up with facts.

Billions of doses of HCQ have been taken around the Globe for 70 years . . . .
Lupus patients have used HCQ for decades . . . none got the Wuhan Flu.
The “Ford” study that slammed HCQ was a FRAUD !

In many Malaria countries you can buy HCQ like Aspirin over the counter . . . those same countries have very low numbers of Wuhan Flu infections.
It was the insane media and Fauci pushing Remdisivir that were anti-HCQ . . . the media cause Trump said it and Fauci because of his wallet.

      • A. Jamieson

        January 20, 2021 at 8:55 pm

also I can back “entire medical establishment” up with facts in that no jurisdiction in Canada is prescribing HCQ as a remedy. So yeah, that’s our entire medical establishment…..

It only became “Dangerous” when Trump mentioned it . . . you are aware that at that time in March/April last year . . . Many Dr. in the NY Hospitals were using HCQ as a prevention. On 200 mg tablet per week protects you from the Wuhan Flu.

What is dangerous is uninformed loons like you . . . who watch the Fake Media and Believe.
You can do a “search” and get 100s of Real Doctors who will back up my story.

Here’s how science works 99. If you make an assertion, like, O I don’t know, HCQ is an effective method of treating those with COVID, then you have to prove it. The audience you are attempting to convince is not on the hook for proof. It is up to those making claims to address the skepticism of those claims. This what Danielle Smith could not do and this is why she was asked to resign. She had no credible proof.

She is a strong woman who can handle confrontation. The idea that she is victim is a convenient way for her not to answer for her actions of promoting an unproven remedy for COVID.

STUDY: COVID Patients Treated With Hydroxychloroquine See 84% Fewer Hospitalizations

A new peer-reviewed study that examined the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and azithromycin shows that hospitalizations and mortality rates were significantly lower for patients taking the drug cocktail.

The study, set to be published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents in December, determined that “Low-dose hydroxychloroquine combined with zinc and azithromycin was an effective therapeutic approach against COVID-19.”

A total of 141 patients diagnosed with the coronavirus were treated with the three-drug cocktail over a period of five days and compared to a control group of 377 people who tested positive for the virus but were not given the treatment.

The study found that “the odds of hospitalisation of treated patients was 84% less than in the untreated patients,” and only one patient died from the group being treated with the drugs compared to 13 deaths in the untreated group.

How sad AND FRIGHTENING it is to see Danielle Smith feeling that she has to succumb to this. Other media personalities, especially those in “mainstream Canadian media”, seem to play the “bafflegab game” that appears to be what satisfies the mobs – and politicians who also have taken to “play the game”, at Canadians’ expense, especially those of us who call Western Canada, home. MLA Barnes slams proposal for Alberta chopper changes

The Helicopter Emergency Medical Services Report has 11 recommendations including having just one provincial air rescue operation, Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS).

Independent Medicine Hat MLA Drew Barnes is sounding warning bells to the UCP after it received recommendations to centralize air rescue operations under STARS.

The Helicopter Emergency Medical Services Report has 11 recommendations, including having just one provincial air rescue operation, Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS).

The proposal said STARS would work with other helicopter emergency medical providers to ensure consistent, safe coverage across Alberta. Provincial funding for STARS would rise to 50% of their operating budget from the current 23%.

“This delayed report’s recommendations are not only bad news for prompt, full coverage air ambulance services for hundreds of thousands of southern Albertans, it is also bad policy for all Albertans,” Barnes, the MLA for Cypress-Medicine Hat, told the Western Standard.

“Southern Alberta’s emergency air helicopter ambulance (HALO based in Medicine Hat) can not only provide faster service with fewer stops, but it also operates much more efficiently and allows for operating reliability for the entire province with a second flight Operations Certificate.

“It is essential all Albertans be treated equitably with government-funded life-saving air ambulance health services, and the UCP government’s refusal to fund southern Albertan’s air ambulance (HALO) the same as STARS must change immediately.”

Currently, Alberta Health Services provides about $8.4 million per year to helicopter emergency medical services funding. Approximately 1,450 helicopter flights take place each year; 7,300 are flown using fixed-wing aircraft.

The government said it will examine the report over the coming months.

The recommendations also include:

  • Legislation: A new air ambulance regulation would establish consistent deployment, operational, clinical and aviation standards.
  • Dispatch integration: The dispatch of STARS would be integrated with other emergency medical services to allow for the best use of all services to achieve the most efficient response.

The report can be read here.

Pastor Coates gets GraceLife Church back on Canada Day

The church has been barricaded since early April after a dawn raid by Alberta Health Services and the RCMP.

It will be a extra-special Canada Day for Pastor James Coates who will get his GraceLife Church back when the Alberta government cuts off the padlocks on his church.

The government confirmed in an e-mail to CityNews Edmonton its restrictions will be dropped July 1, the same day Alberta is dropping all its COVID-19 restrictions.

The church has been barricaded more than two months since an early April dawn raid by Alberta Health Services and the RCMP.

Coates was jailed for more than a month in mid-February because he was defying provincial COVID-19 lockdown orders by holding services at a capacity not authorized by the government.

At two bail hearings, Coates said he refused to abide by conditions that he stop preaching.

After being released from jail, the church continued to see large services, leading to AHS — with the help of the RCMP — raiding the facility and building three fences around it.

While large protests erupted at the walled-off church Coates continued with his services at a secret location, and then posted them on YouTube.

They have since been holding services at undisclosed locations.

Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro personally approved the AHS-RCMP raid and barricading of the Grace Life Church, according to a UCP MLA that spoke to the Western Standard on condition of anonymity. Shandro has denied the story.

China, Russia, Iran call for UN investigation into Canada’s treatment of indigenous peoples

Chinese officials cited the discovery last month of what are believed to be the unmarked graves of 215 children on the grounds of a former residential school in Kamloops.

A coalition of countries – including China, Russia, Iran and North Korea – is demanding the UN probe Canada’s handling of it’s indigenous peoples.

“We are deeply concerned about the serious human rights violations against the indigenous people in Canada. Historically, Canada robbed the indigenous people of the land, killed them and eradicated their culture,” said Jiang Duan, a senior official at China’s mission to the UN in Geneva.

“We call for a thorough and impartial investigation into all cases where crimes were committed against indigenous people, especially the children.”

CBC report Jiang cited the discovery last month of what are believed to be the unmarked graves of 215 children on the grounds of a former residential school in Kamloops.

Jiang said the probe demand was on behalf of China, Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria and Venezuela.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada is much better than China at dealing with historical injustices.

“The journey of reconciliation is a long one, but it is a journey we are on. China is not recognizing even that there is a problem. That is a pretty fundamental difference,” Trudeau told reporters.

“In Canada, we had a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Where is China’s truth and reconciliation commission? Where is their truth? Where is the openness that Canada has always shown and the responsibility that Canada has taken for the terrible mistakes of the past, and indeed, many of which continue into the present?”

Trudeau pointed out China’s “systemic abuse and human rights violations against the Uyghurs.”

He added Canada’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Leslie E. Norton delivered a statement on behalf of 44 countries calling for China to allow international observers “immediate, meaningful and unfettered access” to Xinjiang, where the Uyghur minority are based.

“We are gravely concerned about the human rights situation in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region,” said Norton.

“Credible reports indicate that over a million people have been arbitrarily detained in Xinjiang and there is widespread surveillance disproportionately targeting Uyghurs and members of other minorities and restrictions on fundamental freedoms and Uyghur culture.”

His statement was on behalf of countries including Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
