WATCH: Durham police officer under investigation for supporting trucker convoy

“I think what you’re doing is incredible,” said Howard, of the truckers.

Durham police officer Const. Erin Howard, posted a minute-long video supporting the truckers freedom convoy across Canada.

The convoy is in protest of federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates, but Howard’s public statements have initiated the start of an internal investigation.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said it is investigating because the online video gained a lot of online attention — it has more than 52,000 views on her Twitter alone.

“I think what you’re doing is incredible,” said Howard, of the truckers.

“You’re fighting for our rights and freedoms and right now it feels like we’re a little bit at war and those rights and freedoms are at stake. So, you guys are honestly true heroes.”

The DRPS doesn’t have a mandatory vaccination in place for members, but encourages vaccination in compliance with public health advisories.

“I will be in Ottawa when you guys roll in. I’m gonna be speaking on behalf of Police on Guard, and we are thrilled, thrilled and honoured to be able to be there,” said Howard.

Police on Guard is an organization of active and retired police officers who stand for lawful truth and justice, dedicated to upholding the Canadian Constitution.

“Over the past year, we have seen the foundation of our country irreversibly damaged,” states the Police on Guard website.

“The unconstitutional public health orders in place have resulted in the permanent closure of countless small businesses, the declining mental health of adults and children, and the tainted reputation of Canadian Law Enforcement.

“A collective breaking point was reached by many in the police force as we saw Canadian’s fundamental human rights slowly stripped away. We signed up to act as beacons of truth, peace and integrity and we intend to hold fast to that conviction by shedding light on the unconstitutional nature of current Public Health legislations surrounding COVID-19.”

During previous large protests, like the Black Lives Matter movement, police force members were able to stand with the protestors and be involved.

No Media Bailouts

The fourth estate is critical to a functioning democracy in holding the government to account. An objective media can't maintain editorial integrity when it accepts money from a government we expect it to be critical of.

We the undersigned call on the Canadian government to immediately cease all payouts to media companies.
